Add new CCR  cluster with mailbox only role to existing Exchange 2007 environment
I have an existing Exchange 2007 environment, 2 servers with CAS & HUB roles, 2 existing CCR mailbox clusters, I want to add another Mailbox CCR cluster, just want to verify that I can do this with no affect on the existing environment since this is all the same AD site etc. Thanks

CCR Cluster environment, it is recommended that you should have only two servers, Active and Passive. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124521(EXCHG.80).aspx Cheers, Gulab | MCTS-MCITP Messaging: 2010 | MCTS-MCITP Messaging: 2007 | MCC 2011 | Skype: Gulab.Mallah | Blog: www.ExchangeRanger.blogspot.com

You misunderstand, I already have 2 separate mailbox clusters, mailbox1 & mailbox 2, they are both active/passive clusters, I just want to stand up an entirely new cluster active/passive and install the mailbox role on it also, just wanted to verify that installing the mailbox role will not affect mailflow etc, I should be able to add in a new server with the mailbox role only installed with no problems, correct?

1. It will not effect your exisiting env or your exisitn CCR group. 2. All you want to do I believe is add another CCR pair as your env may have grown. If yes, then go ahead and introduce another CCR pair, no issues.Sukh

Add as many CCR pairs as you need. It will not affect the existing environment since it will be a new CMS in of itself.

Agree with Andy. You can have it as much as you want. Cheers, Gulab | MCITP Messaging: 2010 | MCITP Messaging: 2007 | Skype: Gulab.Mallah | Blog: www.ExchangeRanger.blogspot.com

Also, one more quick question, will it matter if this cluster has a different Exchange Service pack than my other exchange servers, this cluster will be on Windows 2008 R2, so I have to install using Exchange SP3, my other servers are at SP1 since I havn't had downtime to upgrade. That shouldn't be an issue, correct? Thanks again!

correct. As long as both CCR nodes in the new cluster are identical. It wont matter. When you get time though, update them to be all the same.Sukh
